About CECCU

The Coalition on Environment and Climate Change in Uganda (CECCU) is a network of more than 20 civil society organizations that aim “to maximize the benefits to the people of Uganda through advocacy for   sustainable conservation and protection of environment and utilization of natural resources.”
The coalition was formed in January, 2013 when a number of NGOs convened to discuss and critique Environmental Impact Assessments, Oil Companies Waste and Disposal systems in the Albertine region, and to comment on the ongoing Public Finance Bill and the NAPAs meant to reduce the impact of Climate Change.
CECCU MISSION
To promote sustainable environmental management and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation practices by promoting social, economic, and environmental sustainability in natural resource utilization.
CECCU defines its objectives as:
  • To create a platform in which members can share information, plan, and strategize together  for the purposes of conducting joint advocacy and engaging key stakeholders in areas of environment, technology, natural resources management, and climate change.
  • To maximize the potential of individual organizations to sensitize and inform an ever-widening constituency of stakeholders on the challenges and opportunities presented by changes in environment and climate.
  • To strengthen capacity of the members to act as the leading champions in various relevant advocacy areas as stipulated by the coalition.
